Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Research Description

Kudryashov’s lab uses biochemical, single-molecule imaging, structural and cellular approaches to study the role of the actin cytoskeleton in cancer, immune, hereditary, and infectious diseases. Interested students can contribute their enthusiasm to one or more of the following projects: 1) deciphering novel mechanisms of actin hijacking by bacterial toxins; 2) developing toxin-based cancer-specific drugs; 3) understanding the role of actin-binding proteins in hereditary diseases (e.g., osteoporosis, diaphragmatic hernia, hearing loss) and in the invasiveness of immune and cancer cells; 3) exploring molecular mechanisms of host defensive peptides in innate immunity.
